Wind changes how quickly exposed skin and wet clothing lose heat, and it can push a bicycle toward traffic or across a slick surface. Before leaving, check the forecast for the entire route window rather than the temperature at departure. How to prepare for a cold stop
Carry the equipment needed for the actual route, not an idealized short ride. Depending on the bicycle and distance, that may include a charged phone, backup light, spare tube or tubeless repair kit, pump, tire levers, gloves, warm layer, water, identification, and a way to contact help. Carry tools that match the bicycle and know how to use them before the weather turns.
Keep the repair kit where it stays dry. Pack a phone in a waterproof pouch, but do not use a sealed pouch to hide a wet e-bike battery or light while it charges. If a repair cannot be completed safely with cold hands, arrange help rather than continuing with a compromised tire, brake, or control.

Is 32 degrees Fahrenheit too cold to bike?
